NORTHWEST LANDSCAPES
Some of these 5” x 7” oil on paper quick studies were painted during summer sailing excursions in British Columbia’s magical Gulf Islands. Traveling light, I often had to ferry my gear ashore in a row boat. The summer light in the north is surprising, the sea often an emerald green. Other ‘teenie sketches’ were done in Washington’s Methow Valley at the end of the summer, a scent of dried grass and smoke from Canadian fires enveloping the Valley. Sarah Banks copyright
